Discover your

holiday cottage

The holiday home is functional, modern and lovingly furnished. The tiled floor on the lower floor is perfect for cooling off on hot summer days, and the thick stone walls provide the whole house with a pleasant indoor climate even in high temperatures.

Space to relax (outdoor)

On the property of the holiday home you will find countless deciduous, olive and fruit trees, which not only provide a dreamlike scent throughout the year. They also provide a pleasant shade and keep the house at a pleasant temperature even in the hottest summer. You have a parking space right by the house, in the shade of the large lime tree. The entire property is fenced.

Behind the house you have an unobstructed, direct view up to the castle complex on the other side and especially in the evening the illuminated castle offers a beautiful sight. You can also enjoy this behind the house under the large fig tree with a cool glass of wine and the singing of the chirps. The property is bordered by a small stream, which is just as natural as the rest of the property. On the terrace in front of the house, you can spend an hour or two enjoying yourself at the large round stone table and brick barbecue. Since the holiday home is located far below the town, you won’t notice much of the hustle and bustle in Castelo itself.

Being together (kitchen)

The kitchen is fully equipped (grill, kettle, tab coffee maker, 5-burner gas cooker) as well as a Salamander oven, for cold winter days. The large dining table seats five people on comfortable and modern fabric chairs. A large skylight floods this room with light. As a highlight, a vintage guitar serves as a wine glass dispenser. Here you can enjoy a glass of wine together in style. If you want to take precautions, you can stock up on more wine in the wooden wine rack in the neighbouring room (on the right behind the entrance door).
You will find enough crockery and cutlery for up to 6 people in cupboards.

Dreamy nights (sleeping rooms)

On the upper floor you will find the two bedrooms. Both have a wooden laminate floor, which gives this floor a special cosiness. On the left side, there is an elevation with a bed for e.g. 3 children. Right next to it, on the right side, the parents can sleep in the double bed (2 single beds combined) in dreamlike peace. You will always find all beds with fresh-smelling bed linen.

All rooms are equipped with light effects and warm old Portuguese lamps. The light furniture with Portuguese flair maintains a light and friendly atmosphere in the house.

Relaxing & Entertainment (Rest rooms)

Behind the kitchen, in a small room, there is a nice oasis of peace where you can also watch TV (smart TV connection). The sofa can be converted into a sofa bed at any time with a simple click of the backrest.

On the way to the toilet, you pass another room with a modern couch, which can also be easily converted into a sofa bed. In the built-in closet you will find games for the whole family. A great room to retreat to from time to time. The wifi connection is also located here.

Refreshment welcome (Bath)

The bathroom has a spacious shower and a modern shower fitting. Next to the toilet there is a bidet and a modern washing machine. The laundry can be sun-dried directly at the house on the clothesline.

You will also find enough fresh towels for up to 6 people. There is also a small hand dryer in the cupboard. The light of the wall mirror can be activated by a light touch on the blue backlit button.

Behind the door, above the bidet, you will also find a small device for drying laundry. However, we ask you to dry particularly wet items outside on the clotheslines.

The first aid box is also located here.

Surrounding & Highlights

Read here some suggestions or useful hints for your stay at “Casa de Campo” by Ola Linda.

If you feel like going on an excursion, you can visit other great highlights in the surrounding area via the public bus network or with your rental car. Marvão with its castle complex is a wonderful opportunity to visit old cultural assets and at the same time catch a breathtaking view of the dreamlike landscape. The dams in the surrounding area, Apartadura or in Póvoa e Meadas, invite you to cool off or relax and enjoy the tranquillity of the water. At the same time, both offer a great opportunity to take a nice walk around the lake and enjoy the wide view of nature.

If you are in the mood for shopping or would like more city flair, you will find everything your heart desires in the capital of the region, Portalegre. With just under 25,000 inhabitants, this town presents itself quite differently from Castelo de Vide. In addition to the plane tree with the highest treetop on the Iberian Peninsula (Plátano de Rossio), you will find countless museums that tell the story of the town and its economy (Cork Museum, Portalegre Carpet Museum). The central squares of Praça do Rossio and Praça do Município, as well as the 18th-century Town Hall (Câmara Municipal), are worth seeing in the historic centre, which is under monumental protection. The old town, surrounded by the medieval city wall, is partly traffic-calmed and invites you to linger.

The locals are hospitable and many, though shy, speak English. Everyone is eager to help guests to the region.

Situated on a small farm, surrounded by greenery and with an unobstructed view of the landmark of the tranquil town of Castelo de Vide, this holiday home is in the heart of the Serra de Marmede National Park, in the Concelho Portalegre. This special green and hilly Parque Natural is not far from the border with Spain. Portalegre is the capital of the state and the next larger town is Castelo de Vide, with about 3,400 inhabitants. The holiday home is easily accessible from the main road and makes it possible to reach almost everything on foot. The nearest supermarket (Pingo Doce) as well as the public outdoor swimming pool (approx. 5 min), the town centre (approx. 10 min) as well as the hospital (approx. 15 min) can be reached in approx. 500m. This is a wonderful place for a stroll through the town with its many small boutiques and cafés that invite you to linger. There are also small supermarkets and bars in the city centre. Special mention should be made of the beautifully landscaped parks and their water features, as well as the playground. A walk up to the castle is just as easy on foot. The synagogue is located in the immediate vicinity of the castle. This has now become a museum and is located in the old Jewish quarter, with free admission.

From the holiday home you can see a beautiful chapel on the opposite ridge, the Ermida de Nossa Senhora da Penha. This chapel invites you to a dreamlike hike. The climb will reward you several times over, as the view over the city and the wooded hills of the national park will inspire you.
